Week 3: How much of myself is in my writing
Well, to begin with, Felicity Davenport is a pen name, so I guess her entire existence is my writing?
In all honesty, I think a lot of my own voice, opinions, morals, and ideals come through in my writing.
I try to write heroines who look and sound like me (although, I’m brown so that’s a bit hard to do in Regency Romance). My heroes are guys I would be attracted to if I met them walking down the street.
When I sit down to write, I try to write with authenticity. I never think of pulling on a mask. In fact, having a pen name gives me the freedom to truly be myself.

I figured there was no better was to start off my “Felicity Facts” page than with facts about your’s truly.
Fact #1: I live in Ohio right now! I started an East Coast girl but the Midwest has captured my heart (at least for now).
Fact #2: I love to read! I blame my mother for introducing me to historical fiction. The rest, they say, is history.
Fact #3: I actually wrote a novel back in high school but it was complete trash, so we don’t talk about that any more.
Fact #4: I love to cook! Stay tuned, because I may be posting some of my favorite recipes on this blog.
Fact #5: I don’t own any dogs, but would love to one day. For now, I get my canine fix by walking dogs at the local shelter. See this handsome fellow above for proof of how wonderful dogs are.
I’m hard at work on The Duke’s Dilemma. I’ve just passed the 15,000 word mark! I consider it a mildly impressive feat considering it took me only a week and I am working hard (and trying not to write) during my nine-to-five job.
Our heroes are feeling the first sparks of attraction. The duke is rather enamored of the governess and trying his hardest not to dishonor her. Grace, for her part, is completely oblivious all around.
Stay tuned for more sneak peeks heading your way!
